Sliding panels overlap on the track, so a panel face is wider than half the opening — a 75cm door is 772mm and a 100cm door 1019mm. Measure the panel you are replacing, not the gap.
What a PAX hack actually involves
The appeal of PAX is the box: a rigid, well-made carcass in sizes that fill a wall, for a fraction of what a joiner would charge to build the same thing. The weakness is the front. IKEA's doors are thin, come in a handful of colours and read as flat-pack from across the room — which is exactly the part of the wardrobe anyone actually looks at.
So the hack is simple: keep the frames, change the doors, and finish them yourself. A 22mm one-piece MDF front with a real shaker rebate hangs on the same hinges, carries paint properly and lands the wardrobe somewhere between IKEA and bespoke — for the price of the doors and a weekend with a spray gun.
Scribe fillers and end panels are the other half of the job. Anything that has to be cut to a wall rather than a standard size can be ordered as a bespoke size in the configurator, in the same board and the same style as the doors, so the run finishes flush instead of stopping at the last frame.
How PAX door sizes work
PAX comes in two frame heights — 201cm and 236cm — and hinged doors are sized to the frame rather than the opening: 1946mm tall on a 201 frame and 2290mm on a 236. Widths follow the frame: a 50cm frame takes one 495mm door, a 100cm frame takes two.
Sliding doors are a different measurement altogether. Two panels share one opening and overlap in the middle, so each face is wider than half the opening: 772mm panels for a 150cm opening and 1019mm panels for a 200cm one, 2010mm or 2359mm tall depending on the frame. The aluminium frame and track are proprietary and get reused, so the panel face is the dimension that has to be right.
If your wardrobe predates PAX, or you have cut the frames to fit an alcove, measure the door you have and order that size directly in the configurator — any width and height is priced to the millimetre.

Will your doors fit my IKEA PAX frames?
Yes. Every size on this hub is a standard PAX face size, so a front hangs on the frames, hinges and tracks you already have — you keep the PAX carcass and change only what shows. The opening gap IKEA leaves around each door is already taken off the sizes listed.
What size are IKEA PAX doors?
Hinged doors are 495mm wide for a 50cm frame and 250mm for a 25cm frame, in 1946mm (201 frame) or 2290mm (236 frame) heights. Sliding panels are wider than half the opening because they overlap on the track: 772mm for a 75cm door and 1019mm for a 100cm door, 2010mm or 2359mm tall.
Can I have one door on a 75cm PAX frame?
IKEA does not sell a single 75cm hinged door — a 75cm frame is clad with a 50 + 25 pair, which puts the joint off-centre. We can make a symmetrical one-piece 75cm front instead: open any hinged size in the configurator and set the width you want.
Do the sliding doors work with the IKEA track?
The sliding panels here are made to the standard PAX sliding face sizes, so they run in the aluminium frame and track you already have. Measure your existing panel before ordering — PAX sliding kits have changed over the years, and the panel face is what has to match, not the opening.
How thick are the doors?
22mm as standard, which is stiffer than IKEA's 18mm over a two-metre leaf and gives a deeper, better-looking shaker rebate. If you would rather match IKEA exactly, open any size in the configurator and switch the thickness to 18mm.
Are the doors drilled for hinges?
They are supplied undrilled by default, so you can transfer the cup positions straight off the PAX door you are taking down. If you would rather we bored them, open any size in the configurator and add hinging — Blum, Blum Inserta or Hettich, with the count and positions set to your frame.
Do they come painted?
They arrive paint-grade: machined, sanded and ready to spray or hand-paint. That keeps the price down and means the colour is yours rather than the four IKEA offer — most PAX hacks are finished in a specific heritage or brand colour, which is the point of doing one.
Can I order a size that isn't listed?
Yes — the listed sizes are the standard PAX ones, not a limit. "Customise in 3D" opens any door in the configurator, where width, height, thickness and the rail and stile widths are all set to the millimetre with the price updating as you go. Useful for a filler panel, an end panel or a non-standard frame.
How much do doors for a PAX wardrobe cost?
Fronts start at £28.50 excluding VAT and every size shows its own price before you add it to a project. Prices are per door and include the machining — there is no minimum order, so a single door to test the colour is a normal order.
