Wide units are usually clad with a pair of narrower doors rather than one wide one — an 80cm base takes two 40cm doors — and tall towers with two stacked fronts. Count the doors, not the cabinets.
Spend the budget where it shows
An IKEA kitchen is two purchases pretending to be one. The carcasses, hinges, runners and drawers are genuinely good value — rigid boxes with soft-close hardware, at a price no joiner can build against. The fronts are where the compromise lives: thin, foiled or lightly painted, in whatever colours are current, and instantly recognisable.
Splitting the two is the whole trick. Order METOD from IKEA and leave the doors out of the basket, then put a 22mm one-piece MDF front on every opening. The kitchen costs a fraction of a bespoke one and stops reading as flat-pack the moment the doors go on — because the doors are the only part anyone sees.
It works just as well on a kitchen already in place. The face sizes are the same whether the units went in last week or ten years ago, so a tired METOD kitchen can be brought back with a set of fronts and a weekend of painting, without touching the plumbing or the worktop.

Specifying IKEA boxes into a client project is a well-worn trade route: the carcass schedule is predictable, the hardware is warrantied, and the money moves to the fronts, the worktop and the fitting. What has been missing is a door supplier who will make one-off sizes to a real spec and price them before you quote.
Every size here is priced live, so a schedule can be built and costed in an afternoon and saved to your account as a project. Sizes that are not standard — end panels, fillers, a run that has to scribe to an out-of-square wall — go through the same configurator to the millimetre, in the same board and the same style, so the whole job comes off one machine.
Trade accounts carry a standing discount and net terms on approval. Doors are supplied paint-grade so your own sprayer finishes them, or we can point you at one.
How IKEA METOD door sizes work
METOD fronts follow one rule: the door or drawer front is the cabinet's nominal size minus 3mm on both axes, leaving a 3mm gap around each front so doors clear one another when they swing. A 60 × 80cm base unit therefore takes a 597 × 797mm door, and a 40cm wall unit a 397mm-wide one. Every size listed above is already the face size, so there is nothing to subtract before you order.
METOD cabinets come in 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80cm nominal widths, and wide units are usually clad with a pair of narrower doors rather than one wide one. Heights run 40, 60, 80 and 100cm on wall units and 120 to 220cm on tall and larder towers, which are often clad with two stacked fronts. Drawer fronts follow the MAXIMERA heights: low, medium, deep and pan.
If your kitchen predates 2014 it is likely FAKTUM rather than METOD, which does not follow the size matrix above — measure a front you already have and order that size directly in the configurator, where any width and height is priced to the millimetre.

Will these doors fit my IKEA METOD cabinets?
Yes. Every size on this hub is a standard IKEA METOD face size, so a front goes onto the cabinets, hinges and drawers you have — whether they went in last week or ten years ago. The 3mm gap METOD leaves around each front is already allowed for in the sizes listed.
What size front does a METOD unit take?
An IKEA front is the cabinet's nominal size minus 3mm on both width and height. A 60 × 80cm base unit takes a 597 × 797mm door; a 40cm wall unit takes a 397mm-wide one. The exception is the 25 × 80 corner bifold, whose leaf is 254mm wide because it is supplied as a folding pair sized to cover the corner.
Can I order doors for a kitchen I haven't built yet?
That is the common case. Order the METOD carcasses from IKEA, skip their fronts, and take the sizes here from the units you have specified — the face size follows the cabinet, so it is known before anything is assembled. Doors are made to order, so allow for the lead time when you book a fitter.
Is this cheaper than IKEA's own doors?
Not always, and that is not the point. Compared like for like against IKEA's painted fronts the prices are close; what changes is what you get — a 22mm one-piece MDF door with a proper shaker rebate, in any colour you want, rather than a foil or thin painted front in the shades IKEA stocks this year.
Is METOD the same as FAKTUM?
METOD is IKEA's current European kitchen system; it replaced FAKTUM in 2014. The sizes on this hub are METOD sizes. If your kitchen is older FAKTUM, measure an existing door and order that size directly in the configurator instead.
Are the doors drilled for hinges?
They are supplied undrilled by default, so the positions can be transferred straight off an existing front or set out on site. If you would rather we bored them, open any size in the configurator and add hinging — Blum, Blum Inserta or Hettich, with the hinge count and positions set to your unit.
Do the drawer fronts fit MAXIMERA drawers?
The drawer and pan-drawer sizes here are the standard MAXIMERA front sizes, in low, medium, deep and pan heights. Fronts are supplied undrilled so the fixing positions can be set out from the drawer itself.
What are the doors made from, and how are they finished?
Each door is machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF — the detail is cut into a single 22mm board rather than assembled from parts, so there are no joints to move or telegraph through paint. They arrive paint-grade and ready to spray or hand-paint, which keeps the price down and lets you match any colour.
Can I order a size that isn't listed?
Yes — the listed sizes are the standard METOD ones, not a limit. "Customise in 3D" opens any tile in the configurator, where you can set width, height, thickness, rail and stile widths to the millimetre and watch the price update as you go. That is also how you get end panels, plinth and cornice pieces in the same style.
