Doors for IKEA PAX — FAQ
What are the ovolo fronts made from, and how are they finished?
Each front is machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF — the ovolo detail is cut into a single board rather than assembled from parts, so there are no joints to move or telegraph through paint. They arrive paint-grade and ready to spray or hand-paint, which keeps the price down and lets you match any colour.
How much do ovolo doors for a IKEA PAX wardrobe cost?
Ovolo fronts start at £44.50 excluding VAT, and every size on this page shows its own price before you add anything to a project. Prices are per door and include the machining — there is no minimum order.
What does an ovolo bead look like?
It's a soft quarter-round run around the inside edge of the panel opening — a rounded convex bead rather than a square shoulder or an S-curve. It catches light gently, which is why it sits comfortably in both traditional and transitional kitchens.
How is the ovolo different from the raised & field door?
They share the moulding, not the panel. The ovolo has the same rounded bead around the opening but a flat recessed centre panel; the raised & field door adds a bevelled centre field that stands up close to flush with the frame.
Does a moulded profile take paint as well as a flat shaker?
Yes. It's the same moisture-resistant board throughout and the profile is cut, not built up, so there are no filled joints or end-grain corners in the moulding to flash under a topcoat. It's supplied paint-grade, ready to prime and spray.
Are these made to measure?
Yes. Every door is CNC-machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF to your exact width and height — enter the size in the configurator and the price updates as you type.
How are they made?
From a single sheet of ultra-high-density MR MDF, so there are no mitred corner joints to open or shadow through your paint.
