Heights follow the unit module rather than the cabinet, so a base door, a drawerline door and a pan drawer front off the same 600mm cabinet are three different sizes. Work from the fronts you have, not the carcasses.
Change the doors, keep the kitchen
A Howdens kitchen is mostly hidden. The carcasses, hinges and drawer boxes are sound and will outlast several changes of mind — and none of them are visible once the kitchen is in. What you see is doors, drawer fronts and a worktop.
That makes the fronts the only part worth spending real money on, and the cheapest part to change. A set of one-piece MDF doors with a proper shaker rebate, sprayed in a colour you chose rather than picked from a board, turns a standard kitchen into one that reads as fitted joinery — without moving a single unit, appliance or pipe.
It is the same job whether the kitchen is going in next month or has been in for ten years. New build: have the units delivered without fronts and put ours on. Existing kitchen: measure the doors you have against the sizes below and change them over a weekend.
For fitters, builders and designers
Howdens is a trade counter, so most of these kitchens are specified by somebody doing it for a living — and the front is usually the line on the quote where the client's taste and the account's discount pull in opposite directions.
Every size here is priced live, so a door schedule can be built and costed before you quote and saved to your account as a project. Anything off the standard grid — end panels, fillers, a run scribing to an out-of-square wall — goes through the same configurator to the millimetre, in the same board and style, so the whole kitchen comes off one machine.
Trade accounts carry a standing discount and net terms on approval. Doors are supplied paint-grade so your sprayer finishes them to the client's colour.
How Howdens door sizes work
Howdens leaves a 3mm gap around each front, so the face size is the cabinet's nominal size minus 3mm on both axes. A 600mm base unit takes a 597mm-wide door and a 500mm unit a 497mm one. Every size listed above is already the face size — there is nothing to subtract before you order.
Heights are the part people get wrong. They follow the unit module and how the cabinet is clad rather than the carcass height: a base unit might be a single 715mm door, a drawerline door over a drawer, or a stack of drawer and pan-drawer fronts, and those are three different schedules off the same box. Larder and tall units are usually clad with two stacked doors.
If a size is not on the list — an old unit, a bespoke cabinet, a run that has been cut down — measure the front you have and order that size directly in the configurator, where any width and height is priced to the millimetre.

Will these doors fit my Howdens units?
Yes. Every size here is a standard Howdens face size, so a front goes onto the carcasses, hinges and drawer boxes already fitted. Howdens leaves a 3mm gap around each front, and that is already taken off the sizes listed.
What size door does a Howdens unit take?

Are the doors drilled for hinges?
Unit doors are bored as standard, with the outer cups 86mm from the top and bottom edge and any middle hinges spread evenly between them — so a base door arrives ready to hang on the hinges you have. Drawer and pull-out fronts are not bored, because they screw to the box. The boring is in the price you see, not an extra.
Can I change the hinge positions?
Yes. 86mm is the house position and it matches most Howdens units, but if yours are set out differently, open any size in the configurator and set the offset, the hinge count and the hinge type — Blum, Blum Inserta or Hettich — before you order.
Can I get doors for a Howdens kitchen that hasn't been fitted yet?
That is a good time to do it. Your builder orders the carcasses, hinges and drawer boxes from Howdens and leaves the fronts off; the face sizes follow the unit schedule, so they are known before anything is fitted. It is the cheapest way to get a kitchen that doesn't look like a catalogue one.
How do these compare with Howdens' own doors?
Ours are machined one-piece from a single 22mm moisture-resistant board rather than assembled from a frame and a panel, so there are no joints to open up along a rail, and the detail can be cut deeper than a wrapped or five-piece door allows. They arrive paint-grade rather than finished, which is why the colour is unlimited and the price is lower.
Do they come painted?
They arrive paint-grade: machined, sanded and ready to spray or hand-paint. Most customers use their own sprayer or a local one; we can point you at somebody if you need it.
Can I order a size that isn't listed?
Yes — the listed sizes are the standard Howdens ones, not a limit. "Customise in 3D" opens any tile in the configurator, where width, height, thickness and the rail and stile widths are set to the millimetre with the price updating as you go. That is also how you get end panels and filler pieces in the same style.
How much do doors for a Howdens kitchen cost?
Fronts start at £18.00 excluding VAT, and every size shows its own price before you add anything to a project. Prices are per door and include the machining and the hinge boring — there is no minimum order.
