Doors for IKEA METOD

IKEA METOD doorsSlab

Buy the boxes from IKEA and put a proper front on them. We make slab doors and drawer fronts to every standard METOD face size — base, wall, tall and larder units, MAXIMERA drawer fronts, corner bifolds and integrated appliance panels — machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF, with the 3mm opening gap METOD leaves around each front already allowed for. 51 sizes across 7 unit types; sizes are width × height and prices exclude VAT.

From £18.00 per door, excl. VAT

Base cabinet doors · 4 sizes

Full-height doors for 80cm-high METOD base cabinets — an 80cm-wide base takes two 40cm doors.

Wall cabinet doors · 14 sizes

Doors for eye-level METOD wall cabinets — 40, 60, 80 and 100cm high.

Tall & larder doors · 10 sizes

Doors for 200 and 220cm-high METOD high cabinets — larder, pantry and integrated towers — in 40 and 60cm widths.

Tall cabinets are often clad with two stacked doors (e.g. 100+100, 140+60); the sizes here are single full-height doors. 220cm-high doors are derived from the 220 frame via the -3mm rule.

Drawer fronts · 6 sizes

Low and medium MAXIMERA drawer fronts, in 40, 60 and 80cm widths.

Pan & deep drawer fronts · 8 sizes

Tall MAXIMERA fronts for pan and deep drawers — 40, 60 and 80cm high.

Corner & bifold doors · 4 sizes

Bifold doors for METOD corner base and wall cabinets, plus single corner and cargo pull-out fronts.

How IKEA METOD door sizes work

METOD is IKEA’s current kitchen cabinet system, and its fronts follow one rule: the door or drawer front is the cabinet’s nominal size minus 3mm on both axes, leaving a 3mm gap around each front so doors clear one another when they swing. A 60 × 80cm base unit therefore takes a 597 × 797mm door, and a 40cm wall unit a 397mm-wide one. Every size listed above is already the face size, so there is nothing to subtract before you order.

METOD cabinets come in 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80cm nominal widths, and wide units are usually clad with a pair of narrower doors rather than one wide one — an 80cm base takes two 40cm doors. Heights run 40, 60, 80 and 100cm on wall units and 120 to 220cm on tall and larder towers, which are often clad with two stacked fronts. Drawer fronts follow the MAXIMERA heights: low, medium, deep and pan.

If your kitchen predates 2014 it is likely FAKTUM rather than METOD, which does not follow the size matrix above — measure a front you already have and order that size directly in the configurator, where any width and height is priced to the millimetre.

Doors for IKEA METOD units — FAQ

What are the slab fronts made from, and how are they finished?

Each front is machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF — the slab detail is cut into a single board rather than assembled from parts, so there are no joints to move or telegraph through paint. They arrive paint-grade and ready to spray or hand-paint, which keeps the price down and lets you match any colour.

How much do slab doors for a METOD kitchen cost?

Slab fronts start at £18.00 excluding VAT, and every size on this page shows its own price before you add anything to a project. Prices are per door and include the machining — there is no minimum order.

How flat is a slab door, really?

Flat enough for handleless spraying, which is the demanding case. It's a single piece of ultra-high-density MR MDF with nothing pocketed into the face, so there's no unbalanced machining pulling it out of plane.

Can a slab door have a shaped head?

Yes — raked (a single slope) and splayed (a flat run into a slope) heads are both available on a slab, priced as the bounding rectangle plus a flat shaped-head addition. Give us the leg heights and we cut the head to match your ceiling line.

Should I choose 18mm or 22mm board?

18mm is the standard for kitchen doors and drawer fronts. 22mm gives a heavier edge reveal on tall or wide doors; 25mm is available if you switch to the Finsa Hidrofugo Plus board, which carries a small material uplift.

Are these made to measure?

Yes. Every door is CNC-machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF to your exact width and height — enter the size in the configurator and the price updates as you type.

How are they made?

From a single sheet of ultra-high-density MR MDF, so there are no mitred corner joints to open or shadow through your paint.
