Tall cabinets are often clad with two stacked doors (e.g. 100+100, 140+60); the sizes here are single full-height doors. 220cm-high doors are derived from the 220 frame via the -3mm rule.

How IKEA METOD door sizes work
METOD is IKEA’s current kitchen cabinet system, and its fronts follow one rule: the door or drawer front is the cabinet’s nominal size minus 3mm on both axes, leaving a 3mm gap around each front so doors clear one another when they swing. A 60 × 80cm base unit therefore takes a 597 × 797mm door, and a 40cm wall unit a 397mm-wide one. Every size listed above is already the face size, so there is nothing to subtract before you order.
METOD cabinets come in 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80cm nominal widths, and wide units are usually clad with a pair of narrower doors rather than one wide one — an 80cm base takes two 40cm doors. Heights run 40, 60, 80 and 100cm on wall units and 120 to 220cm on tall and larder towers, which are often clad with two stacked fronts. Drawer fronts follow the MAXIMERA heights: low, medium, deep and pan.
If your kitchen predates 2014 it is likely FAKTUM rather than METOD, which does not follow the size matrix above — measure a front you already have and order that size directly in the configurator, where any width and height is priced to the millimetre.
Doors for IKEA METOD units — FAQ
What are the art deco shaker fronts made from, and how are they finished?
Each front is machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF — the art deco shaker detail is cut into a single board rather than assembled from parts, so there are no joints to move or telegraph through paint. They arrive paint-grade and ready to spray or hand-paint, which keeps the price down and lets you match any colour.
How much do art deco shaker doors for a METOD kitchen cost?
Art deco shaker fronts start at £18.00 excluding VAT, and every size on this page shows its own price before you add anything to a project. Prices are per door and include the machining — there is no minimum order.
What makes this an art-deco profile?
It's terraced rather than square. The margin steps down in stages — a 2mm riser, a 12mm tread, a 4mm riser, a second 12mm tread, then a final 4mm step into the field — which puts three separate shadow lines around the panel instead of one. It's the stepped detailing you see on 1930s cabinetry.
How much frame width does the stepped surround need?
The steps run to just over 34mm before the field starts, so rails and stiles need to be comfortably wider than that for the profile to read properly — the 80mm default suits it. The configurator clamps anything it can't cut.
Is there a rounded-corner version?
Yes — a radiused variant of the same terraced profile, which softens the corners of the surround while keeping the stepped shadow lines. Ask us for it by name and we'll set it up.
Are these made to measure?
Yes. Every door is CNC-machined one-piece from moisture-resistant MDF to your exact width and height — enter the size in the configurator and the price updates as you type.
How are they made?
From a single sheet of ultra-high-density MR MDF, so there are no mitred corner joints to open or shadow through your paint.
