Sanding technician

  • £16–20 per hour
  • Full-time
  • Collier Street, Tonbridge

Every door leaves our workshop ready for primer, and this is the job that makes it so — sanding, easing and inspecting each door by hand before it's packed.

A door's routed edge being sanded square on our edge sander
Edge sanding: three grits to 240, held at 90°.

What you'll do

  • Sand panels through the grits to 240 with a random orbital sander, then flat-block them by hand, paying particular attention to the corners and inside rails.
  • Sand routed edges on our edge sander, keeping every edge at a true 90°.
  • Put a 1.2mm radius on every edge with a tapered arris bit.
  • Check every door under a raking inspection lamp, and catch defects before they reach the spray shop.
  • Pack finished doors ready for delivery or collection.

What we're looking for

  • Experience sanding or prepping joinery or furniture for paint is a plus.
  • A sharp eye for detail — you'll spot a mark most people would miss.
  • Patience for careful, repetitive work done to a consistently high standard.
  • Happy working on your feet in a busy workshop.
